Ascension

If I believed what the world says I’ve achieved, then I would believe that I am where I am today because everyone has given me the benefit of the doubt. Every opportunity was given to me unearned. 

If I believed what the world says about my abilities, then I would believe that my voice isn’t fit for any choir singing for change- it’s too harsh, too loud, too heavy. 

If I believed what the world says about who I am, then I would believe that I’m only as good as my choices, and my mistakes have no hope for redemption. 

But

I believe what I say about my achievements, that my life is a testimony of thriving in spite of all doubts and few benefits 

I believe what my village says about my abilities, that my hands have the power to heal, that my voice has the punch to fuel a revolution

I believe who my God says I am, that I’m a royal remnant, I’ve been redeemed and renewed. 

After renewal comes the ascension.
